What do you do if you need to spay or neuter your tame cat?

Writer's picture: DonnaDonna

Cindy, Natasha and Leslie each called us about fixing the cats they had rescued and were now tame indoor cats. This usually starts happening when the females go into heat in April.

GCCCP offers free spay or neuters. We work with IHS and make appointments for their community cat clinics, SPOT. The waiting list can vary from a week to a number of months, depending on the need.

You can transport on the day of the appointment. If you can’t, GCCCP will transport for you.

You are there at 8 a.m., and your cat should be ready to come home around 2 p.m. the same day.

Your kitty should be in a trap, which we can provide.

The one requirement is that your cat will have one ear tip clipped. This is to prevent anyone from retrapping for neutering, if the cat  gets outside.

You

can choose to vaccinate, deworm, treat for ear mites, and microchip your cat at the time of neuter.

All of this is available to anyone, but GCCCP will help Garden City residents.
