You never know when you will be called to help. And you never know how much you will be willing to do when it’s your turn. But your actions are a sign of your character, and Cindy can feel proud of all she did when she was called.

Looking through the rescue sites can be precarious for many. If you think you can save all of the cats, avoid these sites, because hording can develop. Be aware of the location of the rescue and know the facts before you commit.

Cindy lives in Garden City and was looking through the rescue sites. She found someone who needed help with trapping three cats. This seemed doable. The rescue was in Nampa. When Cindy drove out to Nampa to talk to the caregiver, it turned out she had three cats but the neighbor on the other side of the fence had 16! And they all traveled back and forth. So now there were 19 cats that needed to be trapped. This included two mommas and their kittens. Cindy could have passed on this project, but being a person with a big heart she took it on. After she called GCCCP we looked for resources in the area that could help her. There are some amazing people out west who have to do everything themselves, instead of relying on a county shelter like we have in Ada County.

We all have a wonderful new resource out in Meridian. Gail has started to gather resources for rescues and is making a network she helps communicate between. It works beautifully because she has a way with people. Gail contacted Operation Community Cats and was able to suggest that Cindy borrow traps from them. Then she found someone who could arrange for a large number of TNR appointments.

Cindy had the two neighbors working together. Angelica and her daughter Gallie had the 16 cats, and her neighbor Chloe had three cats. The cats were mostly friendly. This was both a blessing and a curse. When the first batch was caught and brought back, they would be right there at the traps along with the cats that still needed to be trapped. The whole job was very difficult. It took much time and effort, as well as many resources and caring people. But everyone worked together until the end. Great work and great people!

In the end, I believe there was one cat left to trap, and Angelica felt she could to trap him.
