Finishing up Martha’s colony

If you have been following us over the years, you know the characters in this story.

Martha was one of our first jobs many years ago. Everything about it was so miserable! And yet it was a decisive event. People in Garden City desperately needed GCCCP!

I was told that children had been chasing a blind kitten. I drove down the trailer-lined alley. Little Stevie Wonder was sitting on Martha’s trailer steps. I went and picked him up.

For three years we trapped in the tiny area by the front door, while Martha’s life seemed to fall apart with family events. And many of the 30 cats and kittens we pulled there were sick – blind, parasites, ringworm…

After about two years Kathy came to help GCCCP by taking over Martha’s colony! What a blessing!

She wasn’t comfortable with these cats living in this poverty, neutered or not, so she built a huge catio at her house. Every time we trapped,  from then on, we took the cats to her catio where they live a comfortable life!

Fast forward. Martha moved and Kathy has been feeding the three cats left at Martha’s dilapidated trailer park for years, after making a comfortable feeding station.

The trailer park will be demolished soon so Kathy and I knew we needed to trap the last savvy cats. We did 😉

Matha’s saga has come to an end. Thank you, Kathy!
