Nona and her black cats!

Nona is great at calling when she sees new cats in her colony. We have TNRed many cats this year and IHS found homes for a bunch but one got away.

Mom was only about 5 months old, a kitten herself really, and showed up with 4 kittens. They were under a deserted car where mom hadn't taken her eyes off them since they were born.

 It was hard to tell how old they were. The trick is to wait till they're weaned but not too old to be taken in for adoption.

These kittens were big enough to be spayed and neutered (1.5 lbs) and could be returned because they would be with their mom. The trick seems to be getting them into IHS in the small window between weened and under 2 lbs. There are very few kittens that are nasty at anything under 2 - 2.5 lbs. and in the chaos of kitten season, returning them is quicker.
